Tips and advice from Money Hunter, and a plan begins to materialize. And the helmArchive is finally up and hyperlinking.
Today's agenda includes revision of the format of the Biology Home Page, and further hyperlinking from the helm. Check the navBar and fire up the brandin' iron. posted by john on 8/28/2001 11:50:25 AM | permalink

Hope to meet with Hilary and Chris M. today. Graphics and "big picture", respectively. Hilary will be helping to brand the non-profit organization after spending some time with the crew. Timelines, budgets, event planning and correspondence.

The invitation for an endorsement by Sawfly of "any grant application" to come out of this project has the feeling of finding a Golden Ticket in a Willie Wonka chocolate bar.

Reaching the tail-end of a whirlwind vacation (camping,road-tripping, greyhounding - and living and working in a youth hostel in Minneapolis, I have only recently begun to return to civilization, and it has not been smooth.
Now developing a business plan (timelines, budgets, etc.) to start a non-profit science education consulting group. A couple of other geeks, code-heads we will affectionately call them, a graphic artist, and a colleague here in the biology program, have each "bought in"... and I have been burning the candle at both ends for three weeks straight. Met with Tim Craig on Wednesday last. After not seeing him in nearly three months - thought I had wandered of the edge of the world - we had much to talk about, given that I no longer will be a grad student and would be thrilled just to be a field-hand data slave. I just do not have any clue what would be the most appropriate bruchid beetle question for a proposal at this time, much less have the time to write a thesis. Have been designing and writing code for two new web sites, and will be meeting with a graphic arts graduate from UMD to discuss the theme and "branding" of one of the new web sites. Sawfly nods in encouragement, and a business plan begins to reveal itself... posted by john on 8/23/2001 01:20:49 PM | permalink Wednesday, August 22
Still no clear read on the late night code putting up portal for the crew.

Web development funding should be assumable, but who to approach?
